Rob Dutton – President, Chair of the Board
Rob is a finance executive with 24 years of government and crown agency experience leading major change projects both in finance and across the broader organization. Rob has lectured on Corporate Finance and presented to numerous conferences on the Balanced Scorecard and Developing Finance & Operational Metrics.
Rob received his honours bachelor degree from Concordia in 1983 in History and Economics, his MA from York University in 1984 in History and Political Science, and completed all the requirements of a doctorate in History and Economics, with the exception of his thesis (PhD.[ABD]) in 1986, which he decided to forego in favour of corporate employment.
Rob’s specialties include: Corporate Finance & Strategic Planning, Risk Management, Forecasting, and Government liaison.
He is a member of numerous societies and organizations, including: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Global Association of Risk Professionals, Financial Executives Institute, Economic Club of Canada. Rob received the Watson-Wyatt Crystal Award in 2003.
Michael Zroback – Vice-President; Chair, Planning
Michael is an accomplished Senior Human Resources Professional who has excellent business acumen, leadership and consulting skills. He is adept at using human resources strategies to resolve issues negatively impacting organizational performance by pinpointing root causes and implementing effective, cost-saving solutions. He has experience with both non-union and union environments where he built strong, positive relationships with the employees and their representatives, enabling him to successfully resolve numerous employee complaints/grievances.
In most of his previous positions he led an HR team responsible for the full range of human resources programs. In doing so, he used my expertise in working successfully with all types at various organizational levels to reach ‘win-win’ solutions and displayed the drive to successfully meet any challenges encountered.
Basically, he helps managers to sleep well at night by using human resources strategies to resolve business issues negatively impacting the performance of their companies. He is adept at helping them identify barriers to successful performance, and develop strategies and action plans to implement effective, cost-saving solutions.
Joe Vannelli, CPA, CMA – Treasurer; Chair, Finance
Joe obtained his undergraduate education at the University of Toronto obtaining a H.B.A. in Economics in 2001. After graduation, he began work with Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) as a Financial Analyst in Supply Chain Finance in 2001. He obtained his CMA (now CPA, CMA) in 2008 and then progressed to Team Lead of Supply Chain Finance. In 2008 he left CTC to join Rogers Communications Inc. for a managerial role in Commissions Finance. In 2011, he got promoted to manager of Retail Finance team. In 2013, Joe left Rogers for a managerial role at the LCBO in the Financial Planning department. Over his career, Joe led numerous projects (i.e. new commission models, labour efficiencies, staffing requirements, budget amalgamation models). Joe has also volunteered his time as Treasurer at Canadian Tire’s Foundation for Families (Supply Chain Division) from 2005 – 2008. He is married with two children.
Sharon Rubin, LL.B – Secretary
Sharon Rubin is a lawyer and HR professional who has worked in both the private and not-for-profit sectors. Her experience extends to employee relations, policy development and corporate governance.
Sandra Clarke – Member; Chair, Fundraising
Sandra is one of founding parents of Harmony Place Support Services and has been on the Board of Directors since inception. She is also the parent of a son who has been attending HPSS programs since 1998!
Sandra comes from a business background and worked at Coca Cola Beverages, Promis Systems, a software company, and has held positions in finance, corporate secretary departments and investor relations. Prior to her retirement in 2007, she worked with the corporate secretary, Board of Directors and the McCain family at Maple Leaf Foods.
Gerry Ker – Member
Gerry retired in 2006 after 12 years government relations and corporate/regulatory policy work at LCBO, which followed 21 years in Ontario Public Service as a program analyst and senior manager. Gerry has been a member of the HPSS Board since 2003, and acted as President from 2007 to 2014.
He is the father of four, including son who has attended Harmony Place since 2001.
Elsa Lee – Member
Elsa Lee has always been interested in making a different in the society. She contributed much of her free time to volunteer work. Prior to joining Harmony Place, Elsa Lee has done volunteer work for CNIB and the church she attended for quite a few years. Elsa is also on the boards for Women in Telecommunications and Technologies and the Chinese Ladies Golf League.
Elsa is an experienced telecommunications professional. Her expertise ranges from Network Specialist who provisioned network features and resolved network problems, to Network Manager who managed network budget up to $200 million. Currently, Elsa manages a team of 20 network specialists to provision new network technologies.
Cecile Peterkin – Member
Cecile Peterkin, a Personal Development Coach and Trainer has turned over 17 years of corporate management and mentoring experience into two highly successful career management companies, Cosmic Coaching Centre and Promentoring. Her primary goal has been to follow the advice of Henry Kissinger: “The task of a leader is to get his people from where they are to where they have not been.” Her greatest strengths are the commitment, passion, drive, and determination she has towards mentoring and coaching individuals and teams, turning their ideas and dreams into tangible business and personal success. Cecile is the Past President of the Junior League of Toronto, sits on two Non-Profit Boards, and has extensive volunteer experience working in the community.
