Currently, Harmony Place Support Services provides community participation support to approximately 60 individuals, in six key areas of development.

Social / Educational Programs

This program is designed to assist individuals to enhance their literacy and numeracy skills, as well as, progress social skills development. Based on a person centred approach individuals may participate in activities such as, reading circle, communication, drama, or math.

Leisure/Recreation Programs

The emphasis of the leisure/recreational programming is to offer individuals the opportunity to connect with others to do various activities: gardening, quilting, scrap booking, and choir to name a few.

Health and Wellness Programs

The health and wellness programs incorporate nutrition, body and mind. Individuals involved in this program might engage in fitness classes, Snoezelen (multi-sensory environment), massage, general health and wellness discussions, men’s health, women’s health, reflexology or relaxation activities.

Vocation Programs

HPSS maintains strong working relationships with Globo Shoe, Elkhorn School, Costco & YMCA that provide on-the-job training placements.

On-the-job coaching is vital to the integration and inclusion of persons with disabilities in the workforce and broader community interaction. Coaches play a significant role in implementing strength based approach to supporting individuals with disability to be successful.

Community Outings

HPSS offers weekly trips to Variety Village (fitness), Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Snoezelen), and C4 Bowling (bowling). Additionally, small groups go out shopping weekly at No Frills grocery store, and local Costco.

Due to the generous financial gift of an individual donor HPSS is able to facilitate community outings to places such as; Canada’s Wonderland, Canadian National Exhibition, Ontario Science Centre, and much much more!

Coffee & Sweets Program

Coffee & Sweets is a social enterprise designed to assist individuals to learn about business.

Currently, individuals are paired with staff to attend a local medical health building each morning; they prepare the table for sales, make coffee, put out the baked goods & provide customer service. The individuals learn practical life skills too.

Visit us at 1100 Sheppard Ave. E. on Monday-Thursday mornings for a hot cup of coffee and a delicious treat!
