Introducing
Harmony Place Support Services
Harmony Place Support
Services was established by a group of parents in1983. The goal
was to provide enhanced learning opportunities that would promote
independence, normalization, and community integration through
functionally-based and transferable skill training in order to
maximize their son's or daughter's full potential.
Since then Harmony Place has grown from
a dream to a self-sufficient reality. We now serve over 30 adults
with developmental and/or physical disabilities in our community.
We provide work training and the learning
opportunities which aid individuals to develop abilities and skills
that allow them to integrate into their community.
The normalization principle states that
all people deserve the opportunity to experience situations, relationships
and lifestyles which are typical of the society in which they
live.
This programme was developed by
families who believe that the helping relationship is one of supporting,
consulting, training and teaching.
It is aimed at fostering self-reliance and maximizing potential.
Harmony Place Support Services makes
full use of community resources on behalf of of those being served.
Each individual receives as much support as is required to become
involved in day-to-day activities in the community.
Harmony Place Support Services offers
training and skills development in a variety of programmes designed
for adults with developmental and physical disabilities.
